Abstract:

In a world where computers increasingly play a supporting role in mathematics, mathematicians have a lot of mathematical systems to choose from. Although many of these systems have overlapping goals, they tend to reinvent the wheel and do not cooperate. In this talk we will discuss a project that builds a layer on top of these systems to connect them, and we'll put some emphasis on the algebra systems that are included.

Disclaimer:

I am not an expert on SAGE. As for now, my PhD work has little to do with SAGE, although I hope this will change at some point. SAGE is just something I am very enthusiastic about, and is - I think - well worth hearing about if you're a mathematician who occasionally uses the computer for calculations.
